This is a project commissioned by German audio company Sennheiser – they wanted to have a series of images that reflect on products that are designed to communicate with a variety of our senses. We touch these objects and the material recalls a memory, we hear them and the sound tells us something about the quality, we smell something and remember a mental image.
But how to make an object even more apparent and prominent than it already is in reality?
We decided to use classic objects we all know and love. We shot these objects in my studio and then proceeded to lay them onto their own photographic image. We repeated this process over and over again. This made the items visually whirl back from memory to our conscience as if we’d just be confronted with it – a direct translation of Sennheiser’s vision.
